Sept 8 2007 Rapport newspaper writes: "South Africa's 3-million Afrikaners -- all multilingual people with a high standard Western education and a protestant work ethnic -- are being forced back into the stone-age by the current ANC-regime's laws which bars such 'whites' from the labour market.

South Africa has about 4,5-m 'whites' of whom 3-million are Afrikaners.

Rapport newspaper published an extensive survey this week of the current living conditions of the country's Afrikaner community -- and has found that they have now returned to identical destitution as they had been plunged into shortly after the Anglo-Boer war in 1902 right up to the Great Depression of the 1930s. During those years, the 'poor white' problem in South Africa was even highlighted by an international Red Cross report at that time - and international aid funding was made available to try and alleviate the destitution of poor Afrikaners in those years.

Now, the housing crisis for the country's 1-million destitute, unemployable Afrikaners in fact has again taken on criticial proportions which are worse than their situation during the Great Depression, warns Dr Dawie Theron of the Helping Hand Fund - which is sponsored by Solidarity Trade Union's membership.

"Drive through Danville in the Pretoria district, through the Daspoort tunnel to Booysens, Pretoria-Gardens and Daspoort," writes Rapport newspaper this week.

"The size of the plots are all about the same, but look over the fences and you see the Wendy Houses, the shacks, and the tents housing the Afrikaner destitute families all stuffed in behind the main houses.

"And these are only a few examples of how the face of poverty has changed in South Africa.

"In fact a large, new Poor White problem - with the identical squatter towns seen just after the Anglo-Boer War and during the Great Depression, when people migrated in large numbers from the countryside to the cities, is developing once again."

"It's no longer unusual to see whites begging, and according to the youngest official statistics from 2006, there were 900,000 unemployed 'white' people in South Africa now - all living in total destitution.

380,000 are men, and 610,000 are women - who are not only unemployed, but permanently unemployable due to the ANC-regime's blacks-only hiring laws for the entire labour market.

Also, some 7,000 Afrikaner families live in squatter huts or some kind of informal structure such as a tent or a caravan.

Some 11,000 to 12,000 Afrikaner families are said to share rooms and living space.

"Three years ago, Prof Lawrence Schlemmer already pointed out that 430,000 van the country's 4,5 million 'white' people where too poor to live in 'traditionally white neighbourhoods.'

Dr Dawie Theron of the Helping Hand Fund of Solidarity Trade Union said the housing crisis for the country's 1-million destitute Afrikaners 'has now taken on critical dimensions'.

"Moreover, these destitute people's urgent need is being brutally exploited as just another way to make money," Dr Theron said.

The number of shelters for Afrikaner-destitute familes have soared over the past four years - and not all of them are suitable for human habitation, he warned.

For instance in Daspoort, Pretoria, there is a shelter for the homeless where more than twenty Afrikaners live together on one erf - most rely on a monthly $87 disability pension to survive on.

From this small amount of money they have to hand over more than half to the shelter. Other occupants are elderly pensioners who get about $82 a month.
These people can afford no more than one meal a day if they are lucky, because most of their income is handed over to the landlord.

The Rapport journalist writes that he visited one elderly woman who 'was sitting inside her Wendy House, shivering beneath a duvet in the wintertime.
"Behind her was a signed poster of the SA country-singer Ken Mullan. On the corner, a man was fixing a bicycle for some extra cash."

North of Pretoria, there's shelters where 75 people are crowded together on one smallholding for which the retired pensioners have to pay $35 a month and the rest have to work to get food and a shelter.'

"A Church recently installed toilets and a kitchen here. Unprotected power lines hang over the Wendy houses, the shacks and the tents where barefoot Afrikaner children, chickens, pigs and goats all play on the same dirty soil."

"In contrast there's another shelter some kilometres away with decent infrastructure, a clean and neat refuge where the destitute Afrikaners are being empowered by learning new skills."

However this is only for men and each have a task each day. Some are taught to cook in a well-equiped 'bush kitchen".

"In one of the buildings, a team sits together, stringing plastic flowers into bunches for the manufacturer of funeral bouquets."

They pay a part of their income thus earned to the shelter. A camp commander was appointed to solve internal problems and maintain disclipline.
Just beyond Danville, West of Pretoria is the cultural-historical Westfort former leprosy colony, founded in 1898.

Since its doors were officially closed in 1997, it was a ghost town until destitutes of all races and ages moved in and made it their own.

Over the past few months, more than 1,250 families - some with nine children - have poured into Wesfort. Some 300 of these are children who attend the local Danville school.They even use the bathtubs, covered with planks, as beds.

In the now ironically-named Pretoria Gardens suburb, there's a prime example of how destitute people are being abused by ruthless 'land barons'

The seven-roomed house is rented out at the rate of R1,800 a month per room - including utility costs.

Thus the owner earns about R12,600 a month from the misery of destitute Afrikaners.

Even the garage behind the house has been turned into a living space for two families with four children which has to pay a monthly R1,800 each just to live there.

Even the old outside toilets have been turned into living spaces - in those small rooms, there are five men and an elderly woman, each paying R450 a month...

In the very back of the erf, there are three tiny shacks, each containing a tiny kitchen, bathroom and bedroom - one just the size of a standard single-car garage.

The rental for each of these three shacks is R1,800 each. And next to these three shacks, there's a garden-enclosure made of reeds in which a human being lives for R1,800 a month.

These are just a few examples of the destitution in which Afrikaners are now finding themselves countrywide.

And these are people who are educated and multi-lingual, with high skills levels.

Most of these people are too scared to complain about their plight.
And it's also clear that the present-day government would not intervene in trying to solve the poor-white question as the previous government had done.

Rapport warns that 'communities will have to get involved much more in providing aid to these fellow-Afrikaners and to try and raise them out of this poverty. "We can't just look away and say 'it 's not our problem', concludes the newspaper.

I am currently working on a documentary of crime in pretoria west and i have seen danville! I have seen inside the danville kamers! I have heard the stories off these people.

Its social violence, it's alchoholism, its crack/drug addiction and its INCEST. Not BEE.

Two flaws of our Akrikaner race is that we:
1) are too proud to do a black mans job,
-so a young fit afrikaner woman/man who is fully capable of working as a housemaid/gardener would rather beg on street corners and buy some "wyn vir die pyn" with their hard earned coins.
Look how orania fell in to disrepair at a stage as there were no blacks to paint etc...

2) They refuse to mix their race.
Other races in poor areas are beautiful in comparison to Danville mense. The small community of Danville is rife with Incest. Watch movies such as Delieverance, then visit the Danville kamers to see what I mean.

So anyone who believes danville is filled with ex-professionals who lost their jobs due to BEE is definately at the right website!

I would really like to know where you get your information from, I feel that even though poverty is on the rise in South Africa on a whole, I have not witness this extreme form of poverty you have written about, and I live in Daspoort. And I really think the point about the children running around with the chickens was a really fantastic dramatisation of the whole situation. Even though I do agree that the people are struggeling and that a large population of people in Daspoort are living below the bread line, I would really like to know where this place is where the people are living in such horrendous conditions. I am studying Social work at the moment, and part of my course is dealing with social issues like poverty, if there is such a community living amoungst us, that I don't even know exists I would like to get envolved and do what I can, as this article really shocked and infuriated me. I am not nieve and I definately don't turn a blind eye to the truth, so if you could let me know where I can find these places you speak about in your article I would like to go and witness for myself the truth you have written. I am white english speaking woman, my husband is an Afrikaaner, so this has nothing to do with race just understanding and maybe an eye-opening experience for me to learn about the truth of my community I was not even aware existed to the extent in which you wrote. Who are you to deny these people help, if there are people out there to help these poor whites. How could you even justify that the blacks have it worse off. The blacks suffer more under there own black rule than they did under white rule. The Australians and Americans are trying to make a wrong right. You are a disgrace to whites. I am a White South African and I am proud of who I am, I don't feel guilt for what my ancestors did, for I would have done the same. To keep this country the thriving bread basket it was, I would reinstate apartheid, but rather create a place for the whites to rule.

Homeschooling is another option.
I am a teacher here in the middle east and I know that South Africa has some good home schooling programs.
Maybe Helping Hand could organize a way to get the poor Afrikaner mothers to homeschool their kids using
Orania's education model which is a VERY GOOD Afrikaans homeschooling program that I have even heard of from teachers here overseas.
These poor Afrikaner kids need:
1.Homeschooling in Afrikaans and Bible knowledge
2.Some vocational training(basic carpentry,construction,how to build small solar cookers, bush cooking,learning to raise a couple small goats(kinders are small and give good milk), a few chickens and vegetable gardening)
3.Fun in nature--survival training in the bush(water purification,personal hygiene using water efficiently)this is lots of fun.
4.Making things out of recyclable waste materials.

Yes i believe they will have a lot of pressure on them it worries us how many our people are starving and how many more there will be. There must be away to up lift our people even if it is one family at a time
It is worrying that white children are not getting an education because their parents do not have the means to send them to school
Whites must stop cowering and openly support their own people we see so many walking over their own poor people to give to the black standing behind them there are thousands of black charities that get funding even from overseas so why are people to scared to openly support their own people
It seems the new kid on the block WMOAU is going to do just that, is if they get the support and funding they need.
Whites have to stick their necks out if we want to survive as whites south africans in our own country

There are some private people working, but for obvious reasons they keep a low profile. Therefore they do battle and are limited it the amount of help they can give, and in the suport they have.
Typical Afrikaner they tend to become closed groups.
Solidarity is the only "openly" working one, and then "Volkshulp 2000" They can be a posible source of more information about the smaller private groups.

Those who are reading this article should ensure that money is donated to bring these highly educated, multi-linguistic "white" people to the United States of America. Our southern border is open and illegals from nations who have nothing in common with the USA, and hate us, are storming across this border hourly.

These South Africans (whites) need to be sponsored by we Americans and brought to our shores. They can be assimilated into our society the same way the brown-skin illegals are (there are many white families who would help them). Our government will give away the citizen's taxed dollars to any illegal as long as their skin is brown or black. Being white will be a detriment here as it is there, though not as severe. But use the tactics the brown skins use: have a baby soon as you arrive for automatic citizenship.

Since our enemies are storming across the southern border, why not our white brethren who are under duress?

Give this serious thought. The carnage could begin in your country at any time, since you no longer have a way to defend yourselves, nor have any constitutional protection. The average life expectancy for everyone is now at 48 years; it hovered around 62 years during apartheid;
40% of all SA schools have no electricity;


25% of all the people in SA have no clean water -- and the country's small amount of surface water is becoming grossly-polluted by faecal bacteria from shanty-towns;

60% of all the people have inadequate sanitation; 40% have no telephones.

I am an Afrikaaner. We farmed on this fertile land.We 'combined' from this land.We produced food for all, that being whites. blacks,coloureds,indians.

But how many of you ever wondered how much evil has been done to these very blacks we so eloquently claim to have been caring for and providing for?

It's as if RACIST MURDER,RAPE are all new to this country when everyone can see there's atleast a million coloureds.

Our white supremacist government wasn't itself a paradise for all...so much legalised bigotry and revolting racism...and that still manifests in this part of the country to this day...but did anyone of us ever criticised it?

I just feel that some of you are not factual. A farmer will farm. A police officer will enforce law and safety, a judge will administer jusctice...but who are you all? I mean wouldnt it be better if we could educate our kids and theirs to live together and once more farm on this land together and, (as never before)govern together?

And maybe for, a sudden, Australians and Americans should keep out of this...who are you to poke your noses..this is OUR crisis and WE will step up the fight against it. OUR South Africa will be a RAINBOW nation....i wonder if the native americans and aboriginis ever dream the same (and obviously we know why....) So this is a SOUTH AFRICAN issue ...and SOUTH AFRICANS will address it.

The genocide in Darfur is still going full blast, for 4 straight years.

Yet these are also the only professional farmers in the country - those who with consumate skill and years of experience of farming in the arid landscape, still actually produce enough excess food for all of southern Africa's millions of hungry masses -- although their food production has of course been halved since 1994 as their numbers have diminished rapidly.

I'm not an advocate of grandsons paying for grandfathers sins, but for over 200 years you(Afrikaners/English) treated the Africans as dogs. I do feel sorry for these people.

The blame lies on the Broederbond. If they had spent as much time protecting South Africa from the ANC as they did getting revenge on the English whites for losing the Boer War, we would not have this mess.

In the end they gave the country away without a fight.
The ANC is murdering the whites slowly so that they cannot feel the need to rise up and sort things out. The rest of the world does not care anyway. And now the Nats are part of the ANC. What a bunch of hypocrites.

This is a terrible situation that must be remedied. Whites are under attack spiritually and many times physically all over the world. I fear for my White brothers and sisters in SA and would like to help. Are they willing to fight? Is it possible that with their small numbers they can win? How do we help arm them? And who are these oppressors/landlords?
I'm angry and embarassed as an American, that my country did so much to aid the ANC and brought down the White government that was prosperous and lawful. Shame!
The liberal, communistare at the root of most problems we Whites are experiencing. We must strike at the root cause and help our fellow Whites anywhere they live.
Please, give suggestions as to how we acn help. Is there a movement to allow them to emigrate to other countries?
I am open to suggestions.

Another effective way of fighting back against such 'slum-landlords' is for all the residents to team up and deposit their rent in a central Trust account until the landlords have cleaned up their act. He can't evict them for 'non-payment' because they can prove their willingness to pay. But in the case of these Afrikaners, their security outside these slum-compounds is so precarious in South Africa that they literally have become prisoners of their landlords.
Perhaps the Helping Hand trust should start looking at creating alternative housing for them in 'safe' areas for Afrikaners such as Orania. Many of these abused people are Afrikaner old-age pensioners and people on disability benefits, and often have a lot of good skills and job experience wich could benefit the growth of Orania tremendously.

The greedy landlords and others who are exploiting destitute whites in S.A. have names and residences. Their names and addresses should be published in a newsletter and circulated far and wide. Then pay them a visit, make some noise where T-H-E-Y live, perhaps a demonstration or worse where they live. We do that to "slumlords" here in New York from time to time and it seems to work.

I am 100% in support of A Afrikaner Country which becomes a general homeland for all whites in Africa.

If things in this country get worse, then I think we will have to consider this.

I'm all for it. Attaining it will require outright war and bloodshed... but... anything worth having is worth working/fighting for.
